Paulownia is a fast-growing Asian variety of tree that has also been planted in Europe for several years. It is characterized by dynamic growth and high quality knot-free wood, as well as high absorption of carbon dioxide in the wood.
After ten to twelve years, the tree is ready to be cut down. One tree provides about 1 m³ of high-quality wood, and the selling price per m³ is about 250 euros in 2023. Typically, 625 Paulownia seedlings are planted per hectare.
The Paulownia is a tree species originally native to Asia, which is characterized above all by its rapid growth and high wood quality. However, it also grows in Europe and is not invasive due to the use of hybrid seedlings.
By using the blooming Paulownia as a source of honey and by providing wide flowering strips between the plantation rows, our plantations actually have higher biodiversity compared to their previous use as cropland (see for example Vanbeveren, Ceulemans 2019).
You make the decision to plant paulownias on your field, we take care of the rest. If the field is suitable for Paulownia, we prepare it for planting. Then we plant the Paulownia seedlings and make sure that they can grow optimally. We plant only German, high yielding, Paulownia seedlings.
